The Tonga/New Zealand business association is an association of businesses within Tonga and New Zealand who trade between the two countries and are interested in New Zealand as an export market. The Tonga/New Zealand Business Association (TNZBA) has been established for twelve years.

We are always actively looking for new members to join our pro-active association. You are welcome to join our association if:

● your business has dealings with New Zealand or Tongan businesses
● you have training available to staff in NZ or Tonga
● you will be marketing some of your products in NZ or Tonga
● you want to carry out a feasibility study within NZ or Tonga

The association could be just what you need to join for help!

The association has as one of its objectives, the administration of a NZAID private sector development grant. This explains more about the Private Sector grant that we administer. Our grant is $NZ2000 maximum, it is not expected to pay for the full cost of any application - you are expected to also have some costs:

● you must be a member of this association (T$20 per year, January to December)
● you must operate a legitimate business with trading license
● you must have ties or dealings with New Zealand
● you must be a private sector business, not public sector
● you must want to get training, carry out feasibility studies or market research in NZ or bring a trainer up here.
● you must apply before the event takes place (allow 4 to 6 weeks) no grant can be given in retrospect.
● you must organize for a full report on the event with necessary receipts etc to cover grant money given
● your business can only get one grant per twelve month period

A newsletter is sent out to members at regular intervals. In the newsletter are interesting happenings, local information, items about members and their businesses, lots of different things of interest to our members. Regular general meetings are held at members places of business they are in the style of an informal meeting where lots of networking and business takes place. These are very interesting and well attended.

The Executive and Committee are responsible for the association, they work closely with the New Zealand High Commission with regard to the grants and activities affecting NZ.

Our membership includes agriculture, media, retail businesses, guesthouses, manufacturing businesses, resorts, yacht charter, a private school, the fishing industry, banking industry, cafes, computer and IT businesses as well as many others. We have a very diversified membership. As long as your business has some dealings with NZ you can join up T$20 per year.
